Joining Muslim Doctors (MD) for a Tuli Mission Alhamdulillah, a few days ago, a good friend of mine told me that the young medical students from Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Medicine (ADZU-SOM) were here in Manila for a surgical mission. Their group was known as the Muslim Doctors (or M.D.). I went to visit them that day and to my delight, they invited us to join their event last May 1, 2016 at Mahabba Islamic Center in San Andres Bukid, Malate, Manila. I immediately informed the members of UP-Association of Muslim Students (UP-AMS) and Alhamdulillah, 5 of them volunteered to join me. I learned later on that another friend and fellow medical student from another school will also join. First meeting with the MD team I was on ER Duty the night before, and honestly I did not get much sleep before the event. It was February 22, 2015 when I finally crossed out one of my Bucket lists: Visit Baguio City!    The plan to go to Baguio was already planned 2 years ago with some Muslim brothers that I met in Manila. Who are we and what do we do? Well, we are a group of Muslim students and young professionals (all male) mostly friends and acquaintance of one another. And during the past two years, we usually gather once in a while, mostly during weekends or during holidays and spend time talking about Islam and our roles as young leaders in the society (naks). Sometimes we talk about how we can improve ourselves and dealing with the daily challenges we meet. Assalamu Alaykum! (Peace be upon you!) A few days from now and the tragic incident in Mamasapano, Maguindanao will reach it's first month (which coincides with the EDSA revolution anniversary). A lot of things already happened. Things came out from a "shock to all", to a "word war in the internet", to "teledramas and privilege speeches" and now to "twists and turns". And only God knows where we are heading after it reach one month, and perhaps beyond. Really, I am supposed to stay silent about this. As may have been manifested by the days of delay of publishing "Medschool-related" posts here in this blog. I just can't seem to publish my medschool adventures while these things are happening. Assalamu Alaykum! (Peace be upon you all!) This post will be more of a full-of-photos blogpost as they say, "pictures can paint a thousand words" :) I will just give a short introduction about it. Last December 27, 2014 the New Muslim Care Philippines  conducted a feeding program and Islamic lecture in BASECO, Manila as part of its "Empowerment Event". NMC Philippines is a Non-Profit Organization composed of dedicated Muslims in the Metro who aims to help the Ummah in simple ways they can, worked hard for the success of the event together with other organizations like Bangsamoro OFW Organization (BOFWO) and Philippine Ramadhan Tent Kitchen. Alhamdulillah, we thank all those volunteers who came to support us even though we have nothing much to give them in return.
